Emotional Regulation Simplified
Here's a simple definition of what it means to be Emotionally Regulated.
We have all had emotional reactions that are not aligned with our feelings.Â
Examples
- Fear shows up as anger
- Powerlessness shows up as aggression
- You have a "big" reaction to something "small."
- Don't express an emotional need "in the moment" and wait to express it "two weeks later."
When someone is "Emotional Regulated," they show the right emotion at the right time, in the right amount.
Emotional Regulation - Simplified
- Fear shows up as fear,Â
- Powerless shows up as acceptance of powerlessness,Â
- Small things show up as small things,
- Frustrations you experience now, show up "now" as opposed to getting "stuffed" for two weeks.
Etc.
